Just Signed Up: North Van Run – October 1, 2017

Disclaimer: I received an entry to North Van Run as part of being in the West Van Run Ambassador team. Join the West Van Run Crew on Facebook so you can join in our events.

If you follow me on my social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook), you may have seen that I am now a part of the West Van Run ambassador team. I’m so proud to be a part of this amazing group. The West Van Run Crew holds Saturday morning runs (all levels welcome, no drop). This group is like a family, very supportive, friendly, and they really make you feel welcome. West Van Run also puts on some fun races like the annual West Van Run, Ambleside Mile and Summer 5k. They are adding something new to that mix this October, a 5k and free kids race called North Van Run.

The North Van Run Course

The course is mostly flat and starts along Harbourside Drive, just south of the North Vancouver Auto mall. The route takes you through parts of the auto mall (some car shopping perhaps?) before it takes you to the only hills of the course: Fell Avenue and then 3rd Street West. It’s definitely doable to keep pushing and once you get to Forbes, it’s smooth sailing towards the finish line at Shipyards. The best part is the finish line, where the Vancouver skyline will greet you as you run down the pier to what could be a PB. With only 32 meters of elevation gain, it’s entirely possible! Check out the RunGo route below.

Personally, I love running around North Van. It’s a refreshing change from the usual seawall and I’m really excited about the finish. The Shipyards and Lonsdale Quay are great to hang out at and shop. From downtown, the start line is accessible via 1 bus and a short walk and of course you can easily take the seabus back downtown from the finish line.

Join the fun!

Hope you’ll come out and support, I’ve already got my entry and will be there at the start line. Remember to use discount code JEANNINE to get 15% off your entry. Sign up yourself, join the West Van Run team or create your own team!

North Van Run is also raising money to benefit Special Olympics BC North Shore so if you can spare a few bucks, please consider donating to this worthy cause 🙂

If you can’t make it to the race, come hang out with the group every Saturday. You can get all the details from the West Van Run Crew Facebook group.

A special shout-out to Shannon Banal who took all these amazing photos for us. We all met up at 5:30 AM in the north shore to take all these epic photos.
