I was sad to find out that the last VCXC race of the year had been cancelled. Thank goodness I was able to attend the BC Provincial Cyclocross Championships in Squamish for the second year in a row. Last year it was a gorgeous sunny (but cold) day. This year was quite the opposite and might have been the worst conditions these guys and girls have ever raced in so far. It was raining hard, very cold, muddy, and the puddles were more like mini lakes. It was freezing for spectators and it was worse for the athletes so kudos to them for riding their hearts out in such horrible conditions. Taking photos was a challenge for me because it was tough to find shelter. That meant I couldn’t switch lenses, I pretty much stuck it out with my kit lens (not my first choice). I still managed to get some shots that I want to share with you. Thank goodness, I didn’t fall in the mud… wouldn’t that be hilarious if the photographer ended up getting muddier than everyone else? Haha maybe not. Hope you like photos! Looking forward to next year… it’ll be better than ever!
