If you haven’t noticed lately, I’ve been photographing sports quite a bit… mostly cyclocross but I tried taking photos of runners at the Eastside 10K as well and I had a great time. There’s so much to love about sports photography: the spontaneity, the action, the suffer faces… It’s also quite an adrenaline rush when you’re trying to get a piece of the action and you actually do get that perfect shot you hoped for… or shots you didn’t even plan. So when Run/Van asked me to help take photos at the Granville Island Turkey Trot, I couldn’t say no. It was a pleasure capturing happy runners bright and early on Thanksgiving Monday. Check out some of my favourite shots… I was asked to cover David Lam Park and Coopers Park. It was so picturesque… trees, water, an urban setting. It was very fun to shoot. Thanks again for having me!
Sign up for next year’s Turkey Trot here. There’s a kids run and a 10k. Fun for all ages 🙂
You can see the runners across the water at Olympic Village. Go go go! Home stretch!
Huge thanks to all the volunteers so helped keep the runners hydrated as well as brought up the energy.
Also kudos to the band playing at Plaza of Nations. They were so much fun to listen to.
