It was a busy weekend for me and my camera. I decided to skip the Vancouver Eastside 10K this year and while I had a bit of FOMO, I’ve never actually been able to just cheer from the sidelines and take photos. It was such a rainy day that I got drenched anyway, call it solidarity with the runners. I headed to Gastown by 8:30 AM as I knew the leaders would be there by 8:45. Damn they’re fast… and I clearly need to practice with low light shooting. I decided to use my 18-200 mm kit lens which may have been a bad idea… it’s really not the best. I think I got some decent shots anyway. After waiting in the rain a bit, I decided to walk (quickly) back to the viaduct to catch people finishing. I missed the winner but I still managed to catch a bunch of the elite field. It was a fun and wet day and I’m glad I could support the running community in this way too.
Olympic race walker Evan Dunfee finished in 41:40… that’s some fast walking!
Leslie Sexton was the 1st Female Finisher, 18th overall at 33:17.
Fresh from the Olympics, Natasha Wodak finished 3rd Female, 22 overall at 33:42.
